Programs Intern – Reality of Aid Africa | Nairobi, Kenya
Job Purpose
The Programs Intern will support the planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring, and documentation of Reality of Aid Africa's programmes and initiatives. The intern will contribute to policy research, programme implementation, stakeholder engagement, advocacy activities, knowledge management, while gaining practical experience in development programming and civil society engagement.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Programme Coordination and Implementation
• Support the planning and implementation of programme activities and projects.
• Assist in preparing work plans, concept notes, activity schedules, and programme documentation.
• Monitor programme timelines and support follow-up on action points.
Research and Policy Support
• Conduct desk research on development cooperation, governance, financing for development, social justice, and other relevant policy issues.
• Collect, organize, and analyse qualitative and quantitative information to support programme activities.
• Contribute to the preparation of policy briefs, reports, presentations, and knowledge products.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting
• Assist in collecting and compiling programme data for monitoring and reporting purposes.
• Support the preparation of donor, project, and activity reports.
• Maintain accurate programme records and documentation.
Stakeholder Engagement
• Support communication and coordination with civil society organizations, development partners, government institutions, and other stakeholders.
• Assist in organizing meetings, workshops, webinars, and stakeholder consultations.
• Prepare meeting agendas, take minutes, and document key action points.
Qualifications and Requirements
• Bachelor's degree with at least a Second Class Upper Division in Development Studies, International Relations, Public Policy, Social Sciences, Project Management, or a related field.
• Strong research, analytical, and report-writing skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Demonstrated interest in development cooperation, policy advocacy, governance, and civil society strengthening.
• Good organizational, planning, and time management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn, adapt, and contribute to a dynamic programme environment.
